Drove through a cloud of smoke, mesquite in my clothes
The aroma was enough to make a hungry man go mad
The bucket seat's got cracks and the windows don't roll up
This goddamn old car done a half a million miles
Ghosts in the rearview mirror, giving me the sneer
All snouts and horns and hooves and flies and wild eyes
Smoke curls out from their split sides
Like fingers making way around my mind, and I start to drool, it's some barbeque
I'm barbecue too... and probably you as well
I'm barbecue, and you are too

I pull over at a stand, where a devil of a man asks 
What I'll be having and I reel into some devil of myself
My passengers moan, and snort and groan back in my ride
As I study what this man has manifested with his hands
My tongue is hangin out, my nose is twitchin like a dog's
My eyes have gone pure void, the devil is annoyed
I check the time and notice there's a line, right behind me and the grumbling has begun It won't be long before the guns... barbecue
Know what you want, pick it out, get outta the way
You eat this time, get eaten next time

The brisket jiggles like a mold, I'll take some to go
I hear my voice say from very far away
Let's do a rack, no, 2, and make it naked as the hog 
That gave its life and died for me and you, to barbecue and chew
The only apparition not waiting in the car for the ride home is Mr Chicken 
So let's pile some of that on
Some ticklers and some sides and then we're through 
And I jump in my old ride and head on home to you, with some barbeque
You eat this time, get eaten next time
That's what we're havin
