You're so focused on saying the right thing
Be polite, be patient, be kind, be engaging
Choosing every word and considering consequences
Neglecting your instincts, never taking chances
You can be a good person and still be yourself
You could stand your own ground, and not care if it's selfish
There's a hole in my head where those words come out
I don't need to worry what comes out of my mouth
They're just words
They can't hurt you
It doesn't matter to me
If it matters to you
Let the beast out sometimes
He can't stay in that perfect little moral cage
Eventually he'll break free
You won't be able to stop the rampage
We all have a dark half inside ourselves
You could tame that darkness, you'll find it really helps
In those critical moments where you need to be cruel
You've got that demon in your pocket like a calibrated tool
They're just words
They can't hurt you
It doesn't matter to me
If it matters to you
What's the point in having something if you don't use it
After all this is a part of who you are
You're not defined by a single act or action you commit
We're the sum of our parts, not equated simply by the momentary whole
It's your monster, your devil to tame
So why not give him the rules, make him play your game
You'd be much happier I think, reflecting at the days end
We could all benefit from having this one dark friend

To try and hide from yourself
Your life is your own
Why not raise a little hell
At the end of the line
