All through the early morning air 
The colours danced along carelessly dreaming
And in my ageing garden where 
The flowers bent their heads to look so beaming
Oh I just can't find

In early quiet hours my eyes drifted
To where she stood beneath my window
The 'lectirc light shining as if to wish
For someone else be there to gleam on
Oh I just don't see

In the early sunlight stare I stumbled 
From my doorstep still half dreaming
Into the outside rush that screamed 
From every side of life and love or seeming
Oh I just don't know

And in the sounds and bright of day
We sat all afternoon just two there scheming 
Of all that there could be when once again
Summer whispered around here stealing
Oh I just don't need

When came in softer evening hours
We wandered past the terraces so pleasing
And we sat among the bright cafes 
Waiting for time to pass along by breezing
And looking 'cross the river where
The mirror images flickered teasing
Oh I don't believe

Beneath the blanket falling as the night
Came crawling in silently creeping
The dark behind the windows masked 
From all outside as city lights lay sleeping
But who's to say what plays behind 
The starry curtain never will come peeping
Oh I just don't want

For then when spring arrives will it be to surprise
Of those who try to hide their own true meaning
For it's truth that knits the clouds and cracks 
The oceans whip aloud to all in keeping
And it's not the fault of anyone to wish to be
A little more upclose intact and pleasing
But the summers gone and soon the autumn will be done
As winter comes in weeping
Oh I just don't fit
