Dread twilight
Gloaming falls
Burning sky

Acrid smoke
Through open windows
Lean over and close
Hold you so

The radio's on
Just static and stars

Did we collapse
Like buildings
Our fevered fugue state
Lashing tongues, bodies twined
All I am is all of you

Skin to skin, palm to palm
All that we are
As we drift to sleep
Could we wish for tomorrow
Will tomorrow ever come

We lay here
Open and exposed
Threw open windows
Watching it all burn

No time for clothes
No time for sense
When it's all on the brink
No time for troubled minds
Or worried hearts
Just come back to sleep

Did we collapse
Like ruined buildings

Did we enmesh
Become two souls in egress

Rainclouds

I close my eyes
You take my hand
We feel the sun on our skin

Three AM and I wake to the sounds
Of sirens in the streets across the water
You sleep undisturbed so pure

Outside the window the cities burn
With no rain to be seen
I go back to sleep

Five AM but no sunlight comes in through the blinds
I wake again and you're still asleep
I can't keep myself under in those sweet things
For all that long now

You stir and I watch you turn
So beautiful in the low light of the room
I would give it all for you, I know
I watch the city burning from out the window

The skies rip open wide and the rain floods down
Across the water and covers the streets
Is this all real or did I go back to sleep

Did we rise this morning knowing it may never come
Did we cling together when it all went wrong
Oh could we wish for a forever now
That tomorrow's finally come
