Matthew the Apostle

Matthew the Apostle, also known as Saint Matthew and possibly as Levi, was, according to the New Testament, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. According to Christian traditions, he was also one of the four Evangelists as author of the Gospel of Matthew, and thus is also known as Matthew the Evangelist, a claim rejected by the majority of modern biblical scholars, though the "traditional authorship still has its defenders."The New Testament records that as a disciple, he followed Jesus, and was one of the witnesses of the Ascension of Jesus. Later Church fathers such as Irenaeus and Clement of Alexandria claim that Matthew preached the Gospel to the Jewish community in Judea, before going to other countries. more »

I’m in debt
And have no money
I'm in pain
Can’t find a cure
I’m the joint
Seconds from running
I’m the voice
You always hear
Mr. Genuine in the winter
Isn’t it a bit like you feared
Hope you saved
Enough weed for this one
Hope you kept
At least one more beer
Welcome in
How was your journey
I bet you
Learned nothing at all
How much time
Did you trade for memories
How much pain
Did you mean to cause
Did you mend
The sins you committed
Tend to give
To others your alms
Hope you weren’t
Expecting an entry
You lived life
Entirely wrong
I’m in debt
And have no money
I'm in pain
Can’t find a cure
I’m the joint
Seconds from running
I’m the voice
You always hear
Mr. Genuine in the winter
Isn’t it a bit like you feared
Hope you saved
Enough weed for this one
Hope you kept
At least one more beer
What’s the use
Seems I’m worth nothing
Please excuse
Me from this all
I can't make
Enough for my family
I can’t hang
A pic on the wall
So much time
Spent on providing
There's no space
To fit in it all
Do I choose
My daughter and family
Or must I
Choose slaving and fall
I’m in debt
And have no money
I'm in pain
Can’t find a cure
I’m the joint
Seconds from running
I’m the voice
You always hear
Mr. Genuine in the winter
Isn’t it a bit like you feared
Hope you saved
Enough weed for this one
Hope you kept
At least one more beer
Check my pockets
Wallet's all empty
What should I
Do I am lost
I've a wife
Daughter and family
I've a life
But it all costs
I must miss
Her first simple sentences
And miss
Seeing her crawl
I come home
She’s saying daddy
I can tell she's like
Where've you gone
I’m in debt
And have no money
I'm in pain
Can’t find a cure
I’m the joint
Seconds from running
I’m the voice
You always hear
Mr. Genuine in the winter
Isn’t it a bit like you feared
Hope you saved
Enough weed for this one
Hope you kept
At least one more beer
I’m in debt
And have no money
I'm in pain
Can’t find a cure
I’m the joint
Seconds from running
I’m the voice
You always hear
Mr. Genuine in the winter
Isn’t it a bit like you feared
Hope you saved
Enough weed for this one
Hope you kept
At least one more beer
