About our dreams and how they weren't far
It started with a camera then my dads guitar
Had me singing like Elvis and playing like Marr
And back in those days we loved to create
Making short films in a house on 88th
Then moved to a cul-de-sac just under a highway
And in '05 some punks wrote MILF on our driveway
And you know what they say
About the good 'ol days
Sometimes you gotta let 'em slip away
But being in the the north the winters got so cold
A blessing in disguise that kept me indoors
Pulling out the stories buried in my soul
And turning all the stories into musical poems
And all the kids take it to musical gold
While the good 'ol days are getting old
Its fun to look back and see how things change
But nothing ever happens livin' down on memory lane

And remember those girls that we had to know
When we went downtown and the streets we'd roam
I thought I could dance long enough to take her home
But I tried to take her heart by writing her a poem
No avail it was a couple months prior
A girl that looked like she was born for Esquire
Sat in my car and I went in for a kiss
When she looked back strange I just pretended that I slipped
And you know what they say

Sometimes you gotta let em slip away
Back in those days all we seemed to make
Was memories, madness, and minimum wage
Dreaming so big one day the world we'd take
But we worked dead-end jobs, so we were forced to wait
And I'm a rockstar now, so maybe its just me
Missing all the joy rides in the Grand Prix
I said, its fun to look back and see how things change
But nothing ever happens living down on memory lane
