Allen Thomas

Allen Thomas (December 14, 1830 – December 3, 1907) was a Confederate States Army brigadier general during the American Civil War (Civil War). He was born in Howard County, Maryland, and became a lawyer but he moved to Louisiana in the later 1850s and became a planter and colonel in the Louisiana militia. After the war, he was a planter, Presidential elector in 1872 and 1880, professor of agriculture at Louisiana State University and coiner at the United States Mint at New Orleans, Louisiana. He moved to Florida in 1889. Between 1894 and 1897, he was United States Minister to Venezuela. He moved to Mississippi in 1907 and died there in that year. He was buried at Donaldsonville, Louisiana. more »

Mike had a heart that’s always lookin’ out for others
He lived his life in humility showin’ love to his brothers
Even when they did dirt & walked all over him
To Mike it wasn’t bout the time wasted or even the dough that he spent
He pressed on, not saying that it was easy
But Mike had a goal of reaching the world with Jesus
He wouldn’t let up or give in to compromise his vision
Knowing of his blessing this is what God intended
All about the Gospel, ain’t no other life for Mike
He could’ve taught anything but he only took that mic for Christ
Mike’s a warrior the kind that will ride for life
Lord help us see with the same eyes as Mike
To rise from the slumber of our ignorance
Your fight is the one that makes a difference
As we strive for a love that don’t exist in us
It is Christ who is righteous that gives vision to us
God gave us vision, when will we realize?

Mike’s dream was simply to glorify
The Lord on high and lead more to Christ
Mike became founder of Praise Chapel Fellowship
His whole family caught his vision
Jumped up on the battleship
Sad for me to say that he passed on
Today it’s over 4,000 Praise Chapels
Mike’s dreams stands strong
And who the one you think they stand on?
Haven’t you heard? The word stand more firm than a backbone
He’s planted seeds my friend
Now let it grow rite there
You thought your dreams were pretend but they overcome the nitemares

A man of Macedonia was standing there urging him & saying

Concluding that God had called us to preach the Gospel to them
See, church, there’s a dying world out there
And God has got to put dreams in your heart
So that you can go out there and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ
