When my heart no longer serves me
When my lungs have ceased to fill
When my blood pools in its roadways 
And my sinews finally still
Do not shut me in a box

Give the dandelions my forehead 
Let the roses have my feet-
My lips to kiss their roots below
Our union now complete

Let the metals in my body mix 
New fire into stone
Let them meld. Let there be nothing 
barring merge of earth and bone

So that I might live in everything
That once lived in me
My atoms reconfigured 
Into falcon, worm and tree        
And if the ground should shift
Let the sun shine on my head !
Let my bones be softly whitened 
Let them gleam, when I am dead
