She lived in a golden palace Her life was devoid of any malice She wanted more than gold One day she set out beyond the pasture Then she was alarmed by gentle laughter She knew tales of old She came upon a singing choir Delighted, she drew her lyre Joined along in song and dance Became a fine vagrant They traveled the woods, the trees were shelter Her parents laid out a plan to help her Who were they to save? They stayed in a tavern throughout the winter Just singing songs for board and dinner They were on their way On the eve of the spring, they were packing all of their things The messenger that would bring a weathered letter left with a grin The note read "Daughter, oh daughter, please make your way home Father, your father, his heart has turned to stone Mother, your mother, asks this pain to quell Promise, we promise, we just want to know you're well" She ran it by the singing choir Delighted, she packed her lyre Joined along in song and dance This group of fine vagrants When at last they reached her home and much to their surprise Father greeted them with anger in his eyes Though these vagrants brought her home All their good deeds were unknown Seemed they stole the girl away For their crimes they must pay She set free the imprisoned choir Delighted, she drew her lyre Ran away to sing and dance and live life as a vagrant Oh no!
