It's early morning, I hate to leave you sleeping alone 
But I'm a busy man; I'll try to call you up on the phone 
It's getting warmer, relinquishing the chill in our bones 
But I'm a lucky man at least I've got a place to call home 
I head to work, I think I need to ask the man for a raise 
I'm getting sick and tired of working for the minimal wage 
I need to find relief; I'm on my feet 12 hours a day
When all is said and done, I'm finally bringing home enough pay 

But it's hard to complain in the summertime 
The living's easy, so it seems 
So just let yourself unwind; relax your troubled mind 
Get caught up in your dreams 

The sky is hazy, it's looking like a storm's on it's way 
But I'm an optimist, I'm grateful just to see another day 
Life is crazy, this summer heat can make us insane 
So keep your outlook bright
You never know just when it's gonna rain 
There is a feeling I get around this time of the year 
I think of cool, cool rain
What difference would it make to shed a tear? 
So what's the purpose, of trying to find the purpose of life 
God knows we're living it, and trying not to cause any strife 

And it's hard to complain in the summertime
