I see it coming along
Closer everyday
And I know its what we always say
When the world starts to change 
And the things we hold dear start to disappear
But now broken dreams
Are all it seems
We are capable of

We've been having this nightmare since we closed our eyes

We are forced to confront
Progress is impermanent 
Moving further away 
From where we were yesterday
And as values burn
The world still turns
And foundational principles once thought unsinkable

Do you recall when truth was not a weapon?

I see how it breaks down:
We give a clown the crown
The clown starts making sounds
And people listen
People listen and repeat
People join in a chorus designed to un-shore us
Spreading falsehood and rumours like cancerous tumours 

The lies metastasise 
People take their sides
As reality dies 
I feel no surprise
Because I'd opened my eyes
And see it coming
Epistemological congestion
Truth now merely a suggestion
But how do you tell the world it's going to hell
When you don't believe in hell?

I see a world where wrong is right
Day is night
Down is up
Where we're fucked
Where it's considered treason to use our reason
And objective claims are considered insane 
Information sources all distorted 
That everything is "fake news" is the most fake news reported!
