With records charting from the 1950s to the 1980s, he became well known as a practitioner of the Nashville sound (a mixture of older country-style music with elements of popular music). You are my guiding star
The one love I can't live without
All these things I know you are
Beyond the shadow of a doubt

Through rain, through snow or storm
The coldest, darkest hour out
Your love will keep me warm
Beyond the shadow of a doubt

No gates, no bars, my dear
Will ever serve to keep me out
Call my name and I'll be there
Beyond the shadow of a doubt

Through rain, through snow or storm
The coldest, darkest hour out
Your love will keep me warm
Beyond the shadow of a doubt
