They look so thin
They're like two piles of bones who sit in skin

The bread can never sate him- no more bread! 
I wish that I could cook meat for him instead

The meat would fill him, make him whole, give him a body

But where's the meat today?
I think he knows  and he knows it well

My family starves for meat, the bread bakes still
I hear my mother say
"We feed and fill"

So I remember the meat that hangs on me
