Sleeper is a 1973 American science fiction comedy film directed by Woody Allen, who co-wrote it with Marshall Brickman. Parodying a dystopic future of the United States in 2173, the film involves the misadventures of the owner of a health food store who is cryogenically frozen in 1973 and defrosted 200 years later in an ineptly led police state. Contemporary politics and pop culture are satirized throughout the film, which includes tributes to the classic comedy of Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and Charlie Chaplin. Many elements of notable works of science fiction are also paid tribute to, or parodied. more »

Life's all about the choices you make
The places you go and the people you break
Struggle, have fun, it might be a mistake
Friday night comes but there's nowhere to run
Diggin' a hole with my bare hands
The burn of the neurons make me numb where I stand
Hear a swish - see thee crumbly, floating toward the land
Dissolve into the daylight as particles disband
The whole fuckin' world is falling apart
Hyper-sonic time flash video crash
Reality laughs as it takes you to the bank
The rhyme scheme slips as synchronicity dips
With concentration as scattered as the drizzle that falls
Mesh the bird calls, traffic light, the whir of the lull
The warrior victorious, almost dead from the brawl
My work done today echoes rings of decay
Stompin along on my own feet
The clomp of the ground where the dirt and straw meet
Suspended with a view, the flicker of the wēk
I put it all behind me and pretend that I am free
Incoherent mumbo-jumbo takes a trip for the worst
Steal a rig with a vacuum when the seams all burst
Spraying yellow coins, convince their victims to destroy
I try to plug my ears but I'm miles from here
Gatekeeper of the sleep world, hear my plea
To live without your friendship is insanity
Let me pass along unnoticed although there's a warrant out for me
I'll even wear a disguise in case you need an alibi
I end up in the lobby of this building all alone
But I'm late for a meeting with a rolling stone
Fuzzy-orange light of closed-eyes rain down soft fury quiet
On the stone bench again, watch it all dissolve into the wind
The clouds in the sky, they slowly drift by
As I try to lite the fire just one more night
Stumble up the stairs and you growl like a bear
Empty inside I've got nothin to hide
