Persephone saw the pomegranate
And wondered, "Can it be so bad
To hide away in the Underworld?
For the cold light of day's turned me mad"

She ate the seeds, ran off with Hades
Kissed a few forbidden Greek ladies
She pissed off ghosts and won't answer her mama's calls
Now Demeter's trying to reign her in
But she befriended hellhounds and won't listen
The goddess of spring refuses to turn to fall

Atlas he held the stars on his back
And wondered, "What if I let go
And ran away to live in the woods
To see the sky as mortals do below?"

He tried to toss off his great burden
But the sky started falling and his heart started hurting
He couldn't let those innocent people die for him
He shouldered the night sky and started weeping
While the mortals below were silently sleeping
The moon shone bright as Atlas grew so dim

Demeter went walking by night
And called to Atlas far away
She said, "My child could learn from you
For Persephone has simply gone astray"

He admired the goddess's gumption
But had to laugh at her assumption
She thought he was happy under the weight of the sky
He said, "Persephone's young and free
Don't wish on her this misery
Or you're condemning your daughter's youthful joy to die"

Persephone loves pomegranate
And visits Demeter half the year
She's still in love with the Underworld
But managed to alieve her mother's fears

Now Demeter has her daughter back
And decided to cut her a little slack
For the young and dumb don't listen to concerns
And Atlas smiled from afar
As he held up the weight of stars
For they did better than he and chose to learn
