Just for the cheap labor and to allow recidivism to continue to exist
Applicants being disqualified--and pardon requests being dismissed 
Picture a rehabilitated offender--now criminalist banned from being able to assist
Because convicts and felons cannot be given the chance to subsist
Feeling discouraged to go further without a life preserver
I pray to the silent listener to persuade lady justice to free this prisoner
I've juxtaposed my hard work to obtain an education with how easily I'm dismissed
And I ask myself "Was life supposed to be like this?"
"Was I destined to serve as someone else lesson?" 
What if I went towards a better direction?
With no answer, I guess, I'm blessed to be another Sisyphus 
Since I can't change the future, I'd like to welcome you to my gallows humor

No longer will condone this disfranchisement 
My condolences to the careers I'm going end
But this mastermind is going to speak his mind
And grab a hold of the coveted microphone
Until every obstacle in my path and task
Is unceremoniously overthrown and passed
The environment that influenced his previous decisions 
The ambition and allure that accompanies requisition  
Submergence and accumulation fed his selfish purpose 
The suppression of his emotions stemmed from feeling helpless 
Present day, those same flashbacks serve as a source of positive feedback
Now I'm facing another situation, the lack of a quantitative way to assess a risk 
Consequently, the government leaves it to the establishments 
Evidently, with no incentive to delve into the nature of an offense
This is often the environment of the impoverished population 
Fenced in by selfish organizations like ALEC
Their intent is to profit from the minorities imprisoned
Leaving many families broken and overburdened
The youth of these families become disheartened 
Futures become darkened with only a few options
One of which is the selling of narcotics
Development of these diabolic tendencies 
Begins with focusing on making currency a top priority 
No matter the form, the result of treating society as a means to end
Tends to invite the deadliest bloodthirstiest of symbiotic friends
That's when those same friends want more ends and start undermining 
Don't get it twisted, today's narcotics trade is tomorrow's cryptocurrency mining 
The likelihood of surviving and thriving seems to outweigh the chances of dying
From my observations, too few are given a real chance to succeed
Or are shown a different perspective to change their dissension 
It seems the immunity for this ailment is stringent diligent detachment
Implement and use it as you embrace both sides of who you are
Essentially, purposeful ascension is the skeleton key to redemption 
With the right mindset there isn't much that you can't accomplish 
And those that couldn't comprehend will be left in a permanent state of astonishment
