The Road Hammers

The Road Hammers was a Canadian Country music group composed of Jason McCoy, Clayton Bellamy and Chris Byrne. Formed by McCoy as a side project, the trio's music is influenced by 1960s and 1970s trucker music and Southern rock. Their first self-titled album included remakes of several classic truck-driving songs. It was recognized with a Juno Award in 2006, along with numerous Canadian Country Music Association awards. After five years together, the group disbanded after one last show on December 31, 2010 in Langley, British Columbia. more »

I'm bustin my redneck for each dollar of my paycheck|To turn around and watch it dissapear into thin air||No one can tell me, no slick willie try to sell me| On the notion that I'm getting my share fair and square||I'm in the land of plenty, and there's never quit enough |I'm pinchin every penny and this just ain't addin' up||Chorus|I got 1 car 2 jobs 3 kids 4 months of bills|Got heartache, backbreak, can't pay for the magic pills||Half of what I make, the tax man takes,|The tax man takes most of what I make |And I still owe the Devil his due||I'm Just a hard workin Blue Collar Dude - UHH|Gettin Screwed||The rich man got his money and them diamond drippin honey|And the Hummer that costs more than the house I'd like to buy||Uncle Sam must be jokin, I don't know what he's been smokin'|Sayin we all getting' equal heapin' helpin's of the pie||They swimmin' at the country club barkin' with the big dogs|And I'm barely treadin water and croakin like a Bull frog ||Bridge|Getting Screwed to the wall, robbin Peter to pay Paul|They whip me like a rented mule, but I'm just to proud to fall||I'm in the land of plenty, burt I'm pinchin every penny|While the government tis telling me I'm getting my fair share||I try to climb this mountain but the bills just keep on pilin'|They poke me with the short end and expect me to be smilin'||I try to climb this mountain but the bills just keep on pilin'|They poke me with the short end and expect me to be smilin'||Honest days work'man, dirt on my hands||Die, fly, high, lie, my, pie, try, ||Sayin||There ain't nothing in the bank account, and dust in my wallet|If that ain't livin' down and out, what would you call it||Keep slippin off the ladder||Tax bracket|Makes me wanna cry|There's no reason left to try||But we all just smile and grin|Wait to 'take it again||Where is it written that a man can't be forgiven|For missin a payment when the money just ain't there||Line, the man keeps blowin' sunshine|
