Blind Willie McTell

Blind Willie McTell (born William Samuel McTier May 5, 1898 – August 19, 1959), was a Piedmont and ragtime blues singer and guitarist. He played with a fluid, syncopated fingerstyle guitar technique, common among many exponents of Piedmont blues, although, unlike his contemporaries, he came to exclusively use twelve-string guitars. McTell was also an adept slide guitarist, unusual among ragtime bluesmen. His vocal style, a smooth and often laid-back tenor, differed greatly from many of the harsher voice types employed by Delta bluesmen, such as Charlie Patton. McTell embodied a variety of musical styles, including blues, ragtime, religious music, and hokum. more »

Wanna go out, baby, too late at night.
Lawdy mama, no need to worry.
Wanna go out, baby, too late at night.
I got a real funny feelin'
You're gonna treat your daddy right.
Long-legged woman, come and hold my hand.
Lawdy mama, no need to worry.
Long-legged woman, come and hold my hand.
I got a real funny feelin'
You wanna love some other man.
Leavin' in the mornin', you're cryin' won't make me stay
Lawdy mama, no need to worry
Leavin' in the mornin' baby, you're cryin' won't make me stay
The more you cry baby, further gonna drive your daddy away
Leavin' in the mornin', you're cryin' won't make me stay
Lawdy mama, no need to worry
Leavin' in the mornin' baby, you're cryin' won't make me stay
The more you cry baby, further gonna drive your daddy away

Crossroads:
Wanna go out, baby, too late at night.
Lawdy mama, no need to worry.
Wanna go out, baby, too late at night.
I got a real funny feelin'
You're gonna treat your daddy right.
Big-legged woman, come and hold my hand.
Lawdy mama, no need to worry.
Big-legged woman, come and hold my hand.
I got a real funny feelin'
You wanna love some other man.
