I'm sleeping next to my telephone
Cause if you call me
I wanna talk to you in my dreams
I'm stepping out of my comfort zone
Cause I know life won't
Always be this easy
Been blowing bubbles now for hours
But they all pop
Before they get to you
I know you won't climb down from your tower
I hope it won't be long
Before you get sick of the view
Cause I care more than I'm letting on
And I hope that you do too
Cause we were both sixteen
She was a couple months behind me
I wanted to take her driving
To see what the world knew
When we were both sixteen
The leaves had just started falling
We knew that the grass wasn't always green
Better than most do
I'm thinking of the things we could've been
I'm sure by now
That you've found someone new
I'm trying not to take it personally
I bet my life
He doesn't care what you've been through
Cause I care more than I'm letting on
And I hope that you do too
Cause we were both sixteen
She was a couple months behind me
I wanted to take her driving
To see what the world knew
When we were both sixteen
The leaves had just started falling
We knew that the grass wasn't always green
Better than most do
I promised you that I'd never lie
But I wish I'd never said that you were right
Then maybe I could've said goodbye
Cause I can't stand not knowing why
Cause we were both sixteen
She was a couple months behind me
I wanted to take her driving
To see what the world knew
When we were both sixteen
The leaves had just started falling
We knew that the grass wasn't always green
Better than most do
