Her skin curves like drifts of snow
Blown virgin smooth and deep
And the raven hair that falls Upon her shoulders makes me weep
But her smiling eyes and blood red lips
Silently invite me
To accompany her in a dance
That long outlasts the night

Beyond a care I dare to follow
This maiden where she may
Along paths that wind
Until tomorrow breaks upon today
The dance it leads into the street
Where solemn statues stand
To look upon that river of song
Passing hand in hand

We meet the Bonnie lass
Who labours on an endless shore
Casting stranded starfish
Back to the sea once more
We join her and the names we claim
Are secrets in the dark
And the starfish that we cast away
Are pieces of our hearts

Down dark and narrow city streets
She takes me by the arm
And all I ever want to do
Is keep her safe from harm
For the light that radiates from her
Just peels away my pain
Now I just can't wait to have her
Over and again

So we're standing in a doorway
To escape the pouring rain
And all I thought important
Has been slowly washed away
She opens up and let's me in
Her promises laid bare
Red as blood and white as snow
And ebony her hair

The storm without and warmth within
I find my comfort there
