Wicked rituals upon my form, a clever trap
Absinthe infused with powdered silver I choke back
Devoured heaps of garlic, ginger, and meadowsweet
Disguised the air, incense and myrrh all for the feast

Clouded mind
Bloodlust reigned
Spellbound, he dined
Feeding deep, from toxic flesh

The creature flailed and writhed and screamed
For what seemed an eternity
Blood spewed forth like a flooding force
Then he fell still, cold and silent as a corpse
I summoned strength, crawled, and slid
Seized the sharpened stake I hid
I heaved upon his frozen stare
Our eyes locked, I drank his fear
The piercing oak, it plunged deep
to the heart of this new trophy
A shovel then, from the garden shed
Driving hard, I removed his head
The ordeal was over now
My mind set free
My body aged, for endless days
Now frail and gray
This chapter's closed, but I'll always know
The horror of that time alone
Now my youth is gone
The price I paid, for tempting fate
The lessons learned inside the cage
The lie defies nature's rule
The promise of power lures every fool
