Remember taking rides on the back of your green ute
Looking for spent cartridges left from the times you'd shoot
Try to make them whistle as we bounced along the track
You up in the front and us kids up on the back

Recall the Orpingtons you loved, the buff more than the black
You'd take them off to shows and often bring the ribbons back
Incubator full of eggs, we'd watch to see them hatch
Knowing it won't be too long until there is another batch

Every time a rooster crows, I think of you again
Remember how we used to love to visit you back then
Some memories will fade with time, but these ones only grow
