Luke Fox

Luke Foxe (or Fox) (20 October 1586 – c. 15 July 1635) was an English explorer, born in Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire, who searched for the Northwest Passage across North America. In 1631, he sailed much of the western Hudson Bay before concluding no such passage was possible. Foxe Basin, Foxe Channel and Foxe Peninsula were named after him. He left the Thames in May 1631 in the Charles, took 20 days to work through Hudson Strait, reaching the Bay on 11 July. Blocked by ice to the northward, he went south of Southampton Island to Roes Welcome Sound and south along the west shore to Port Nelson, Manitoba where he found Thomas Button's winter camp of 18 years before, turned north-east, met Thomas James on 29 August, went north into Foxe Channel and into the low… more »

He stumbled right in
You were standing there
Alone in the night air
You took him in
Washed the mud off his face
Never asking where he had been
Then you hold him down
As he screamed and he wailed
Now you know just right where he's been

He's been going down that long and lonely road
A soul should never know of it
But he carved his name in that rolling stone
For what we still don't know
Is it to feel some love
To feel some sweet touch
It's to heal that ache in his bones
It's to feel some love
To feel some sweet touch
To heal that ache in his bones

The glare won't wash
From his young eyes
The heart is good I am sure
He gotta lay it down
All the way down
Head up don't look there no more
But he can hear that call
As he runs for the door
It's a howl you ain't ever known before

He's been going down that long and lonely road
Oh it's the highway of sin
But he carved his name in that rolling stone
For what we still don't know
Is it to feel some love
To feel some sweet touch
To heal that ache in his bones
It's Marrow Deep
Marrow Deep
Marrow deep is this curse

Going down that long and lonely road
Oh it's the highway of sin
But he carved his name in that rolling stone
For what we still don't know
Feel some love
Feel some touch
To heal that ache in his bones
Marrow Deep
Marrow Deep
Marrow Deep is this curse
Marrow Deep
Marrow Deep
Marrow deep is this love
