Upon her glance, our eyes meet
And yet we're nowhere to be found
I'm at a loss of what could be
Within the depth of their immensity
And along the breadth of their eternity
I am stopped in my tracks
Worshipable and so much
That I long to be alive
But will settle just with living
Extended and amended
Mental torrents are wrought to struggle
Shades of past mistakes are set alight
Emblazoned with the flurry of our pace
We might be but machines
But we are oiled and fit to work
On very little, if anything
By the course of our undoings
And yet somehow we can recall
A longing home that carries on
And set sail towards the better
That we may see will come along
And as well as all of it that we
Can clearly see is now long gone
No matter what we will be assailed
By iron-fisted willed dominion
Of irreversible things to come
I met this glancing girl
One time ages ago
Sure enough I know it wasn't
In the life I now live on
And the me there vowed to settle
Upon grazing on that vaunted memory
Of a worshipable gaze unhindered
With hopeful glimmer set ablaze
And I still see glimpses of it
Along the depth of all immense
And the breadth of all eternal
This longing home that fuels
Even the faintest cosmic trace
Of all that I carried with me:
That this choice to keep on giving
My very utmost and my all
