Lady B

Wendy Clark, better known by her stage name Lady B, is an American female rapper and radio DJ from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is one of the earliest female rappers in hip hop, and one of the first hip hop artists to record a single, "To the Beat, Y'all", in 1979. She began her career with radio station WHAT in 1979, and recorded her first single later that year, "To the Beat Y'all". The song, the title of which became a stock rap phrase, was first released by TEC, a local Philadelphia-based record label, and released again in 1980 by Sylvia Robinson's rap label, Sugar Hill Records. more »

hurt a couple times but I move on Done with it, you're doin' me so wrong
Bare feet, concrete, no shoes on Backyard playground where I grew on
Bus toe stub toe but I move on In a house somewhere, can't be long
Better catch it before the streetlight came on Never did it, so you know I got beat on

Young jit you can catch me on the east side HRC, high rock, no free ride
Still get high as f*ck, no sea tied late night, tell em, catch me on the peak side
On the park, playin' ball, no court lite Never need it, but I still gon' shoot, I
Had dreams of bein' in the boot, now Look at me, I'm up in the boot

Pistol whistle, gon' think it's a flute Start talkin', these niggas be mute
Not agreein', I could call a dispute Transaction, bring action, I deposit a few
They change the gun laws, gotta walk with a few Don't be out here lackin', they ain't lackin' too
Stop laughin' with niggas who ain't jackin' you And smilin' with bitches, they kidnap you too

This world is so different, can't trust no one new Just stay on your pivot, don't watch what they do
What workin' for them, it might not work for you Can't get caught in the bs, you get caught in the loop
You talkin' with standards, But bitch u a loop Don't bring problems 'to my niggas, cause they quick to shoot
There's somethin' we don't really need in the group I pray for our freedom to make it back home

Still popping our sh** like we some balloons My heart mixed with black in a pinch of maroon
They ask when I'm coming I just tell them soon Not coming' back, tell my pockets blue like a lagoons
Just shit on the beat like I ate me some prunes These niggas be sudging they made out of foam
They sweet like molasses, but I'm quick to pass it And always know, if you feelin' hot, we can match it

Freeport city, what they actin' for? Goin' 200 like the Lambo truck
And nigga, I ain't stoppin', I want them for nothin' I tell them I'm savin', they tell me I'm cuffin
I thank God for life, for I ask him for somethin' You claim that you got it, I claim that you bluffin
But right now I'm bakin', just call me a muffin It's hot in the kitchen, must open the oven

Hurt a couple times , but I move on done with it u doin' me so wrong
Bare feet, concrete, no shoes on Backyard playground, what I grew on
Bust toe stub but I move on In the house somewhere, it can't be long
Better catch up on the street light came on Never did so you know I got beat on

Young Jit yeah, I grew up in the 242 where not everybody make it but they still fall thru
Just out the way and caking dont care what it cost to Just tryna make a livin', nigga, still a buck u
If you ever diss my dead's just know Its f you have ya ass, chewing lead like you still in grade school
Like I said, nigga, sweet, call his ass maple Don't ask what I'm bringin' cause I am the table

And I heard you made it plate but how long it take you? To the point im sayin' words that I know gon' break you
And I wanna say I love you, but I feel I hate you how we get here ? I don't know, but this shit not taste full
When they say that we toxic I say, yeah, wasteful. How we get here? I don't know, but I'm gon' play it cool
Maybe I should use this time to tell my dad that I love him Even though we got some problems, need to be discussed

I know I never say this love, my sisters and my brothers Even though I was lil jealous all of them havin' a mother
But everybody rhyming got a story to tell somewhere in tht' story either heave or hell
Gave the world my heart and they left it on the shelf 400 hundred degrees they expected it to melt
They expected it to melt dawg

But I still stand tall
Hurt a couple times, but I move on Done wit it u doing me so wrong
Bare feet, concrete, no shoes on Backyard, playground, what I grew on
Bust toe stub toe , but I move on In the house, somewhere can't be long

Better catch it before the streetlight, came on Never did, so you know I got beat on
I got beat on, dawg I got beat on, dawg
I got beat on, dawg
But I still stand tall

I got beat on, dawg
But I still stand tall
I got beat on, dawg
But I still stand tall

, yo, that's all
F*ck y'all
F*ck all this, y'all
L.A., its 242 to the world stillL.A., dawg
