I reject my mother's notion That a house should not looked lived in Growing up, Clean and tidy, I was living in a showroom And people aren't meant to live in a showroom, Unless of course, they like to, which I didn't But moving out, I've found how to spread my soul, Into the space I occupy And that is not to say I am dirty or disorganized But my home is a reflection of me, My thoughts, my likes, my way of life When I have a guest, They will already know I live there by means of my invitation So I won't be afraid to show them That I live there After all, it is my home and I want to enjoy it And if my mother comes to visit And says "Geez, I wonder who lives here?" I will smile and say "Your beautiful daughter"
