It has felt like I've wasted years upon years
Running from my dreams
And facing my fears
Staring at the reflections of my old demons
While being chased by the feeling of uncertainty.

But praise to the most high
Because I'm finally free
Hallelujah to my Lord
That again, I'm finally me

It is true that some damage can't be undone
But my growth cannot be reversed either

And I have clarity of thought and expression
No longer needing to hold anger or aggression
I'm unfamiliar with depression
Oh man, it is so refreshing

And through everything I have experienced
In this lifetime, I remain alive and passionate

What's funny about that is
Some might view my passion as a weapon
A threat, even
But I view it as a capability to be felt

Not a burden but a blessing

To pour out realness while also
Protecting my truth from
Falling on deaf ears
To inspire the souls
Who need to hear a voice like my own
So they're encouraged to find theirs

To understand that no matter how
Dark or grimy your past is,
There is beauty and light
Waiting on you in the future
When you believe in a God like mine
But only if you believe

And if you do,
Then God will make sure that
All your victories are won ahead of time
And no matter what's going on,
He will have your back front and side

I am thankful, I am blessed
I may not pass all of God's tests
But he knows my heart
And he feels my spirit
And for that I know
He will guide me to a higher ground
