If you asked me at 18
By 25, where I thought that I'd be
I'd say I'll probably have some degree
A house, a wife, and a kid or two, surely
Well I've never had no big dreams
But I couldn't have dreamed up
Everything I've seen
So here's to all life's mysteries
And the plans we make
Thinking we know everything
And here's to letting go of dreams
Cuz we couldn't think
Of the blessings we'd receive
Yes I'm grateful for the lessons learned
But that doesn't change the weight of feeling hurt
I've learned that broken people search
For ways to make other people's lives seem worse
Well I've heard some people say things
But I couldn't have dreamed up
Everything I've seen

Cuz there are things that we can't see
I'm not afraid to say that there's some things that I would change
Even though I know they made me who I am today
I can proudly say I've made it through another day
But if I could have my way I would've done without some pain
I know people make mistakes and that's way more than okay
I'm just saying there's a way to put yourself in another's place
And maybe it's crazy for me to think
That these words I sing are gonna change anything
But still I'm gonna sing
