Look, here is a tree in the garden, and every summer it produces apples, and we call it
An apple tree, because the tree apples

Now here is a solar system, inside a galaxy
And one of the peculiarities of this solar system is that at least on the planet Earth

I always seem to land on my feet, and then repeat
Breaking through walls in my dreams of no sleep, fiend

I stumble through this maze, and set ablaze to everything up in my way
All I really need's a cup of coffee, a couple of cigs, and an eighth to get me started
I crash the whole party, this cash can stay off me
It's land that I'm wanting, grow plants and stay on it
Down for the day, but I'm getting no rest

Somebody came from another galaxy in a flying saucer
And had a look at this solar system
And they looked it over, shrugged their shoulders, and said
Just a bunch of rocks, and they went away

They came around, and they looked at it again
And they said, excuse me, we thought it was a bunch of rocks but it's peopling
I just want to say thank you
To the ones that were in my corner
All the waves in the sea crash over
and every tree in the woods falls over
Hard to say, it's been a great view

I'm just here in the middle, trying to stay true
