T. Rex

T. Rex were a British rock band, formed in 1967 by singer/songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan. The band formed as Tyrannosaurus Rex, releasing four underground folk albums under the name. Tony Visconti (their producer for several albums) claimed in a documentary on the band that he had taken to using the abbreviated term "T. Rex" as a shorthand, something that initially irritated Bolan, who gradually came around to the idea and officially shortened the band's name to "T. Rex" at roughly the same time they started having big hits (shortly after going electric). more »

His music was blasting, gaining traction
His message was captain, but he wasn't capping
Took his team to happen, he's ripping stages in life's phases
He gets to see his daughter's faces everyday, it's amazing

And it wasn't from taking, his dreams away that he was craving
He believed in himself and he wasn't mistaking
It was for never quitting when he felt like breaking
It was for never leaving when he felt like fading

For never stopping when he felt like laying
Taking his fears and facing, now it's his song and kids playing
The next generation he's saving, from the same mistakes he was making
Avoiding who he really was, he wasn't thinking much
