Atuk

Atuk (Inuit for "Grandfather") is the name of an unfilmed American screenplay, intended to be a film adaptation based upon the 1963 novel The Incomparable Atuk, by Canadian author Mordecai Richler. It is essentially a fish out of water comedy of a proud, mighty Inuit hunter trying to adapt to life in the big city with satirical elements on racism, materialism, and popular culture. Peter Gzowski's afterword adds some historical context, and elaborates on the satirized real-life counterparts of several of the novel's minor characters, including Pierre Berton. Utopic paradise, over the mountains, chaotic leaders
Historic richness, gift of the nature, ready for ambush
Living among us, watching our movements, leeching our children
Stealing our future, burning our homes. Who can it be?
Where is the money? Where is my family? I can't explain it, can you tell me?
Bring back my brother, please aid my mother, return her medicine. It is all that I need
Killings in prison, vanished people, your dirty money has led us to this
Peace for our people. Pay for your felonies. Incarcerate them
You deserve it
Overprice, all is damned
There's no law, for mice but for men
All the bribes, we are pauperized
See the rats, they run to their den
Overprice, all is damned
There's no law, for mice but for men
Kill the rats, they're terrified, fleeing fast
They run to their den
Run to their den
Run to their den
They run to their den
Overprice, all is damned
There's no law, for mice but for men
All the bribes, we are pauperized
See the rats, they run to their den
Overprice, all is damned
There's no law, for mice but for men
Kill the rats, they're terrified, fleeing fast
They run to their deaths
Run to their deaths
Run to their deaths
They run to their deaths!
