2022 my life turned to a movie
In a little town called Whangarei we were talking bout moving to Brissy
Sheep and farmlands to tall buildings in the city
Flipped around inside out and did a full-on 360
As I packed my bags waved bye to mates I've had my entire life
Changed to a school where I was like the only black kid in the whole of grade 9
Most of em were chill man the teachers they were nice
But it was so different and being different just didn't sit right
I went from studying Maori to the Bible and Jesus Christ
And went from rolling in bushes to being surrounded by city lights
Every song man tells a story every album has some life
Lemme start from the beginning hold up let's rewind time
Let me paint a picture
Small school inside of nature
Drove there every morning wet or dry cold or bakin'
It usually would rain the mud it wasn't no stranger
Empty raro packets LnP lots of flavor
Selling candy in the bathrooms got busted lost all my paper
While I was making music all my mates were being gamers
Dropped a couple songs man I dropped a couple bangers
Was a star and soiree my teachers said that I'd be famous

Lemme tell yall something my school one of kind
I don't think nothing could top the mates I had that time
Few things that had happened it made life feel like life
Like when the bathroom burnt down to the ground in a fiery light
Our school backyard were full of hills of great heights
I'm taking Lakes and rivers trees and Tonga green blue and white
I jumped right into a river that shit was cold the rain poured
The teacher he was laughing he was laughing from core
I went back into class aint on no chairs we on the floor
All my teachers kinda strict but all of em were pure
I performed to em the whole school what an applause
Live a Little life man that was everyone's cure

Came home straight from school we had life all planned out
We had a trampoline great friends family and a big house
Then one day that changed em all the refinery it shut down
My dad had to find another job we looked inside and out
We started talking bout Aussie but that was just a thought
As the days went by it actually started to kinda count
As a thought turned to an idea that idea turned to a plan

Next second on a plane and we landed inside if Brisbane
Now I'm here I aint too sure if I'm settled in all the way
I just cruising along playing volleyball music everyday
Been practicing storytelling and I think this shit gon work
Cause I've been recreating memories through the words in my book
Every lyric note and rhyme and I be writing with purpose
Cause I'm missing Aotearoa man I think I might be hurting
Forming vivid pictures in my mind is it disturbing
It's time to start a new show so let's open up the curtains
