T. Rex

T. Rex were a British rock band, formed in 1967 by singer/songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan. The band formed as Tyrannosaurus Rex, releasing four underground folk albums under the name. Tony Visconti (their producer for several albums) claimed in a documentary on the band that he had taken to using the abbreviated term "T. Rex" as a shorthand, something that initially irritated Bolan, who gradually came around to the idea and officially shortened the band's name to "T. Rex" at roughly the same time they started having big hits (shortly after going electric). more »

Don't be surprised to see me at hands and knees
And it's just a word for
And it's just a word for
And it's just a word for my boy today

Nah, I'm changing this shit, I'm dreaming too big
Never it, never sick, unless it's mental illness I fix
Spitting since six verses I click, future no predict
Life is a trip, I won't stumble, I got my kicks

Ready to rumble through any jungle, I crumbled this instrumental
Developmental from fundamentals, I settle the kettle
The life of a rebel, it's mystical like Hansel and Gretel
I need no medals, just pedals and trebles

Let the dust settle, it sticks, that's what I call a hit
Why I work through it, this game is mind
It's where you'll find me blowing like a landmine
Wind blowing, no wind chimes, finning to find rhymes

I'm fine, it's just a matter of time
Will I ever be signed? Show me the dotted line
If it ain't for me, I'll stay Indy 500 Daytona Beach
My feet in the sand, I seat from Cuse to Cali

If it's for me, I'll meet. If not, look differently
I know what's best, I know myself
But if I need a hand, I'll still ask you for your help
And it's just a word for..

And it's just a word for..
And it's just a word for..
Live on today
We gonna clear the air, I gave you the mic

It still ain't fair, but beware
When Trex is near, hitting the snare
Drum to the beat, up to my feet
The peak I seek, the summit I be

I ain't say it softly, so get off me when I'm talking
You see me like stalking, I walk the walk in
I get to barking, I'm sparking
In a blaze, a maze, is only a phase

I find my way through the devil of hate
Love is great, there is no mistake
When it's hate, you gotta retake
Cut the action, get to blasting

Life's for laughing, and I'm funny as shit
Knock knock, tell me a joke, awww shit
Locked in like Fort Knox, making the box
I can never stop, I'm hot, where's Papa Doc

I'm popping rocks like candy, I'm dandy
Been killing mics since Toy Story with Andy
Getting handies from Brandy and Mandy
You can't stand me, but you asking for another tour

I'm sorry, but this ain't Macklemore
I kill verses the way I wanna
I eat like a piranha, if you wanna, you might not wanna
Peace

Don't be surprised if you see me on my hands and knees
Oh
Don't be surprised if you see me on my hands and knees
Oh
