Did the SNL sample take the edge off of it I'm glad. Have you seen that skit No but I knew it was SNL It's so good. Oh my god, yeah, James Franco The idea for the song was to capture what you wanted to say Like no filter, after your third date or something like that Exactly, the idea is to sort of lead you in, because the rhythm The chord progression is such that it imitates a pop, like romance song And then it starts off kind of, yeah, wholesome, And then guard kind of gets lowered more and more I think you should release that Yeah? Very honest? I'm worried people are going to like No, I think it's very clearly a joke Sweet, yeah, yeah. The doggy dish line is the only one That's made me nervous, because it's a little bit out of the blue Out of left field for me Mine was the first take. I had never sung a melody for it yet Yeah So Thank you I'm a big fan of her She's an awesome comedian This is all in one take All of those were in one take, but I Just Wanna has been iterated on a whole bunch of times It's almost done We have to record the harmony And then change the name Let me pull up the lyrics. They're nuts Is this also you No, this is my friend Holly That one was hard to record Is this Elise Yeah Oh, you hear that peaking Yeah, amazing. Production value, 100 Exactly Oh my god She doesn't have a terrible voice She's got a great voice Oh my god She sang like in real life What's that supposed to mean This was simulated No, yeah, she's not in choir or anything She just like taught herself the Uke and guitar and like singing stuff She's great though That's impressive High key the best song on the album Very consistently everyone's favorite I like mine Her voice is really nice Yeah, this is my friend Ray My best friend Ray, who I gave the shaker that he lost And we were hanging out and I was exhausted or whatever It was like mid-afternoon, as I am And I was like, can you put me to sleep Can you talk about art history He's a huge art history nerd This shit's so boring I mean, it's interesting Like you can kind of listen to it It's like kind of soothing He was just talking about like his thesis project There's another thing I think you might enjoy Yeah It's like a meditation interlude in like a live concert at Madison Square Garden Okay, interesting It's crazy Yeah Okay, yeah, an interlude, yes Yeah, and then the music is improvised So I just started playing it I was like, Amrut, you've got one shot And he grabbed his MIDI keyboard, garage band Pulled up like whatever this is, a xylophone And then, yeah, hit A G and D and F or whatever for three and a half minutes Yeah, I could have sworn there was one more instrument I think I had my little brother play over it too But I can't hear it Yeah, I might be confusing it with a different one He's really passionate about art history Yeah That's impressive Yeah Pretty into it This is my favorite track on the album Really Yeah I mean I might just love Ray's voice Yeah I mean, it's nice Yeah And then I have no idea what he's saying Yeah I don't understand Exactly, exactly You get like words here and there In the middle, he like mispronounced Oedipal And I was like, Oedipal And he was like, Oedipal Or whatever, right And that's just like part of the track Yeah Yeah This is also one that was like properly produced My friend Ian on the guitar Yeah Yeah Yeah Perfect Also improvised guitar I dig it He's good Yeah Aw, this is painfully real Yep That one hits That one hits Yeah Let's go One for eight One for six so far Two for six Two for six Which one did you like Jealousy Okay, yeah Elise is great Yeah, this is pretty much the whole track I just, AP Lit, they gave us like a huge list Of like tone words to analyze literature with And I wanted to just record all of them in Alphabetical order and then like f*ck around with it Like, like spoke step it or like try to make like an EDM beat Yeah Avicii style Yeah, like a party song with the hook being Don't tell me to watch my tone Watch your tone Or something like that Just like throw something in there Yeah This is also one take I just kind of read through the list I f*ck up the words so many times Like at points I, whatever, it was like Sardonic or something like that And I mispronounced it I was like sardonic or whatever Ah, f*ck I mean sardonic I just like kept going All fully still in here Yeah One of the initial concepts was to pull as many viral videos As we could get and then like remix those Because you know how I'm Ready by AJR uses the Spongebob sample I'm ready I'm ready for his first thing And I was like, why not take advantage of that And just like unlimited like viral video audio So that people would, yeah, just like it would be a go-to song That had all these like fun beats and mixing all these things Here's that vine on glove compartments Have you seen this one I don't know if I know that one Oh, shit F*ck I got to fix the speed Come on I've never seen that one I've seen so many vines I've never seen that one It's such a good one I mean, Bo's brilliant So yeah Oh my God, he is Tried to pull that And then it turned out that it was too like aggressive But we tried to make a beat out of it And it was just like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa Completely unusable Oh my God Yeah We spent like 10, 15 minutes on it Yeah But this is just And then he took my track or whatever We didn't do any editing And since it was all done in five hours Initially, I just uploaded it And it was just me saying all the words And then he just added this train track I have no idea where he got the audio Whatever He goes to NYU So he probably hung out on the subway With a nice mic and recorded it I don't know what he was going for But I respect his artistic integrity Added this odd instrumental It was wonderful I guess zealous is the last one There's not that many Z-Tone words Zany Zany Yeah, I guess zealous and zany are the only ones that come to mind Yeah Yeah I got so many therapy worksheets Like dozens and dozens and dozens of therapy worksheets Over the last two years And I kept them all Partially because I love notes and whatever Like knowledge is power And partially because I was like This is gonna make great stand up material At some point They're kinda silly aren't they Many of them are very silly Some of them are useful They're all nice to have And different stuff works for different people So I'm glad my therapist gave them to me It's also just nice to keep track This is the progress, this is the work That you've done It's like math homework It's like this stack of 80 sheets of paper This is my therapy homework For years, like I've been working on it Here's the proof Yeah Any questions? Odi et amo means I hate and I love It's ancient poetry JCL JCL exactly I had an awesome Latin teacher One of his biggest lessons was Odi et amo It's a poem by Catullus The way he described it I hate and I love Part of human nature Pain, heartbreak, grief and loss Are directly proportional to the joy That someone brought you That they've brought you Which is a nice way I think To look at that A lot of wisdom passed down 2000 years A lot of knowledge to communicate
