What do you do when you've gone so long
Too far to turn back, too long to keep going
Stuck in the middle with a choice to make
And looking to the sky, waiting for the voice of fate
But fate never spoke, or maybe you didn't hear it
Maybe you missed your moment, maybe you were nowhere near it
Maybe your fate is to never accept your fate until it's too late and you are headed for death
But what a waste, getting ahead of yourself
Appreciate the moment, never know how many is left
Do you? Nope, I bet you didn't ever bet
That you'd be living with a different level of regret
Rarely ever get upset though you're living with it well
Those who really know you best though would tell a different tale
Everybody could tell that you've been living in a hell
You imposed on yourself got you sitting in a cell
For no reason, you don't even make any sense
Afraid of making a decision so you stay on the fence
Too scared to get off the fence and so you stay on defense
Afraid to take a chance scared of taking a risk
Are you afraid of making it big
And the expectation that the fame it would bring
Or are you afraid of the sting
Afraid that you might fall and have to fail at a thing
Well I don't want to have to be like you
I know we all have dreams I have to see mine through
I ain't afraid of the sting I'll take a beeline to the end
Like the director's cut of a scene not used
I am a mean, odd dude, got to believe I do
Got all the tools I need to receive my due
I am a phenom, fool, I'm fucking Freon cool
I am Neo, spoon, and we are beyond rules
I'll bend the world to my will, I'm unwilling to lose
There is no utensil there, though, the simplest truth
Is the hardest to accept in the darkness and the depth
Of your heart and you draw on it until part of it is left
But you keep on pushing forward, your priorities are kept
Because your word it is your bond, and a bond is to the death
And so you keep on pushing forward never falling out of step
Like you heard a sergeant barking out and calling: To the left
And got you falling for the cadence all responding out of breath
While I'm talking about your mama and I'm calling you cadet
Dog, take me to the vet
Because I'm an animal I ain't been vaccinated yet
And ain't nobody in the world about to make me break a sweat
Man, today is the day these words and their maker met
Because I just killed the perfect verse
I strangled it and left it out for dead up in the dirt
Angels came and played a medley
And the pontiff of the Papal State was praying for the memory
The leaders of the nations all conveyed their deepest sympathies
And everyone agreed that it was maybe for the best
And we just laid the beat to rest
And may this speech I've written rest in peace
