Plough through the waves
Sail on into the sun
Dragging our anchors
Some can weigh a ton
Dredging the seabed
Way down deep below
Disturbing sea monsters
Or finding oyster pearls

Keep the engines on
Plough on through the waves
Slowly slowing down
As something snags the line

Pull up the anchor
If you're feeling strong
Seen for the first time
Since it was jettisoned
Covered in a bloom
Of barnacles sharp as pins
Went without a stitch on
Came back a pearly king

Keep the engines on
Plough on through the waves
Slowly slowing down
As something snags the line

Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!

What did you bury
Deep under water
That got so heavy
That we stopped dead?
Oh, so roll up you're shirt sleeves!
And get a good grip!
You'll feel your palms burn!
And your back break!
