Counterpoint

In music, counterpoint is the relationship between two or more musical lines (or voices) which are harmonically interdependent yet independent in rhythm and melodic contour. It has been most commonly identified in the European classical tradition, strongly developing during the Renaissance and in much of the common practice period, especially in the Baroque. The term originates from the Latin punctus contra punctum meaning "point against point", i.e. "note against note". In Western pedagogy, counterpoint is taught through a system of species (see below). There are several different forms of counterpoint, including imitative counterpoint and free counterpoint. You never cease to say things untrue
Oh my brother, the lies may catch up to you
God knows you're only killing me
With all the silliest things you want me to believe
Son, you need to take a step back and think
When will you see that you're hurting me?
When will you see that you're not fooling me?
When will you see that it's time to be a man?
I wanna think you can
The games you play, they all must come to an end
I've had it with the tales you've told
All your stories, man, are getting old
I don't know what to believe anymore
Yeah, actions speak much louder than words
Yet the ones who still care are the ones that get hurt
It's just no use, there's just no point
When will you see that you're hurting me?
When will you see that you're not fooling me?
When will you see that it's time to be a man?
I wanna think you can
The games you play, they all must come to an end
What's the point in telling a lie?
What's the point in telling a lie?
Telling a lie, telling a lie
Oh, my brother, man, I've tried to see
I've dug so deep, I've tried to understand
I just can't watch you lose control again
I've seen this once before
It doesn't end so well for you
It's nothing personal
But I've had enough of watching you pretend
When will you see that you're hurting me?
When will you see that you're not fooling me?
When will you see that it's time to be a man?
The games you play, they all must come to an end
What's the point of telling a lie
What's the point of telling a lie, my brother
