Went back home to visit after twelve years
Just had to fight back the tears
Nothing I saw around me was the same
My heart was heavy oh what a shame

Driving down the road sure felt lost
Looking at country side that I came across
Once was farm ground now a shopping center
What a waste all this could been prevented

God can't be pleased with what's going on
What was a good life now is gone
Once was grass fields our animals to eat
All of this was turned into city streets

Out on the four lane they just built
Tore down the old church with no guilt
Today people think don't need that old church
Say we must keep our modern time first

Old swimming hole where the church baptized
Today its the towns water supply
Main Street had two red lights been taken out
Down Main Street today has two roundabouts

God can't be pleased with what's going on
What was a good life now is gone
