Almost a decade since I graduated college
Feeling conflicted, only really half accomplished
Thought I'd get, right to the bag cause I studied economics
Could have went the wall street path, I'd be collectin' profits
Thinkin' back and I likely would have been led astray
In that world I barely had connections anyway
It's not what you know, it's who you know, the plot unfolds
I'm not bitter, I'd rather be from a modest home
90 hours weekly behind a desk, it could take your soul
Wouldn't even have the time of day to go construct a flow
Couldn't have been able to leave early to rip a show
And if I never picked up the mic then I guess we'd never know
Mom and Dad retired now, and it's really nice
Cause they done worked their ass off, so we could have a decent life
The other day I had a great conversation with Tea
He said that introspection's the best version of me
Cause you could spit a million punchlines, but what's it worth if
You never fully acknowledge exactly what's your purpose
Puttin' in the work now, one day I'll be an icon
I gotta keep pursuin' this 'til music keeps the lights on
My datin' life hectic, always seein' red flags
My time is precious and something I'll never get back
Seeing how you treat other people is how I get to trust ya
You start talkin' politics I'll have to filibust ya
I might really be single cause I'm a lot to handle
I got a checkered past, so why you think I rock a flannel
I truly feel underwater, been losin' hope lately
I'm uncomfortable if I cannot grow daily
If I ain't have this rap shit, I would go crazy
It's 2010 and I'm Max B, cause I'm so wavy
It's kinda tough lately dealing with this life shit

It's therapeutic for me, I can't fight this
