There's an antique Hoosier cabinet standing in my mama's kitchen
Where an old cookbook and Bible was always within her reach
She'd put on her checkered apron and biscuits every morning
With the flour flying she'd sing Precious Memories
Sitting around the table we sure could taste the love
She taught us how to serve God in the way she served us
She prayed

God is good God is great bread was more than food we ate
She was always full of grace modern day disciple
With our hats off our heads bowed thankful as she handed down
The lessons and the blessings from an old cookbook and Bible

Now her checkered apron hanging on the wall where she left it
And even though she's gone brings back precious memories
And there's a recipe for life she had on her refrigerator
That I kept in the cookbook by the good book she gave me
She left more than a legacy for family and friends
Someday we'll all gather around her table again
