The old man was walking with his rack

In fact, it was just a plain cane

So I was there observing him

With truths and lies, foes and ties
And tears and sighs from a thousand miles

Of ups and downs, from city to town
Where he met a clown who was wearing a frown
I wondered if he'd had a wife and children
He sure must have been a hard working man

Did he have a son and did he have someone
That could have put him some shoes on?
Because I just realised the man was barefoot
His feet signed with scars, felt hard for me to look

At 12 o'clock he went into the shop
And by then my train was showing up
