Cause I died once when I was a kid
In a hospital room with four beds
They opened our eyes to the dark
Where we named the stars in our heads

One nearly drowned in a lake
One was poisoned
Another one seized up
One just swallowed in vain

They called us the four horsemen kids
Bird-like nurses
Bible verses
Foreheads wet by kisses

Who claims the children of death
Mothers with trouble with breath
Then I woke up inside a changed room
And she was right there on the bench
I begged her to come pick me up
So she wrestled the hospital mess
And claimed me in her mother's breast

So then it comes to the end of my life
That funny point of view
There is no fog, i can see very clear
A canyon that i look into

Yes i will have
I will lose
I will wish I knew what's never known
And all I can say is something my dad said
To me a lifetime ago

You're gonna find your own way
And we may not always agree
But i'll always be proud of you, son
