The Magi

In Christianity, the Biblical Magi ( or ; singular: magus), also known as the Three Wise Men, Three Kings, and Three Magi, are distinguished foreigners who visit Jesus after his birth, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh in homage to his divinity. While only briefly mentioned in the Bible, their worship of Christ is theologically significant in representing the physical manifestation of God to humanity, thus fulfilling Christian messianic prophecies. As such, the Magi are commemorated on the feast day of Epiphany—sometimes called "Three Kings Day"—and commonly appear in the nativity celebrations of Christmas.
