Bottle Rockets

The Bottle Rockets were an American rock band formed in Festus, Missouri in 1992, and was based in St. Louis, Missouri. Its founding members were Brian Henneman (guitar, vocals), Mark Ortmann (drums), Tom Parr (1992–2002, guitar, vocals) and Tom Ray (1992–1997, bass guitar); the most recent lineup consisted of Henneman, Ortmann, John Horton (joined 2003, guitar) and Keith Voegele (joined 2005, bass, vocals). Most members of the band have contributed to their catalog of original songs, as have Robert Parr (Tom's brother) and schoolteacher Scott Taylor (who writes lyrics for some of Henneman's tunes). As noted in the New York Times by William Hogeland, the Bottle Rockets' songwriting has been likened to Woody Guthrie's folk style in spirit, smarts, and satire. … more »

Three stamps on my hand last night
Washed you off my skin
But it's alright
Picking fights in my head
Then crying on the internet

And am I everything you came for
It wasn't everything you came for
And I don't mind it if we just forget
No one likes a victim complex

I'm not on community service
Our probation was never worth it
And when we touched thought I found my purpose
We're running different circuits

You could've took the blame
Dyed your hair and changed your name
You'd still be the same

Never thought we'd end like this
Are you a saviour or a narcissist
And will you wish me luck or wish me dead
Regretting all those things you said

Well if theres no body, no crime
What could in the meantime
And would you like it if we just forget
No one likes a victim complex

All my songs just sound the same
Every road leads straight back to your name
And they can me I'm insane
But it's a hung up jury
Think there's no one to blame

All my songs just sound the same
I don't get it if you don't get it
Every road leads straight back to your name
I don't get it if you don't get it
And they can me I'm insane
But its a hung up jury
Think there's no one to blame

I'm not on community service
Our probation was never worth it
And when we touched thought I found my purpose
We're running different circuits

I'm not on community service
Our probation was never worth it
And when we touched thought I found my purpose
We're running different circuits

You could've took the blame
Dyed your hair and changed your name
You'd still be the same

You could've took the blame
Dyed your hair and changed your name
You'd still be the same
