I met her on a midnight train
Heading West across the great divide
Across the Rockies high

Tammy was her name
And I would never be the same
No, I'd never be the same

We talked all through the night
Lost in each other's eyes
Her pretty eyes

The train kept rolling on
Keeping rhythm to its song
Such a sad and lonely song

I heard the conductor say
About three more hours to go
I hope they take it slow

She's such a pretty one
I know we could fall in love
I'm sure we could fall in love

I met her on a midnight train
Heading West across the great divide
Across the Rockies high

Tammy was her name
My life would never be the same
I would never be the same
