It's the mid 60s, Winnipeg, life'll begin
For two Leos, born as identical twins
One named Bruce and the other one Brian
Two new additions in a family of Reimers
Born happy but seven months grown
Urine issues came in the form of Phimosis
So of course, as parents would do
Took 'em to the doctor to get the foreskins removed
But they didn't know there were two ways to do it
Most known blade, doctor preferred the burn unit
Cauterizing the skin until it comes off
But in Bruce's case, this went terribly wrong
7 months now and he's missing his d-
Burned to ish like abandoned lit candlesticks
They pulled Brian out, rightfully so
Grown out from the pain from the comfort of home
Mother's confused on how to raise Bruce
Can he be happy living with his manhood reduced?
So one day, Mom's watching the teller
And she sees Dr. Johnathan Money as an expert in gender
Has a doctorate in sex identity
And biology, was first to think genders be
Nothing but a construct, form of upbringing
And of course, it got the Mom thinking
Maybe we can help Bruce, Dr. Money's the key
They contacted John and he wanted to meet
Flew out to Baltimore, met at Johns Hopkins
Parents were ecstatic about meeting the doctor
Explained to the doc the botched circumcision
Didn't think he'll live happy with manhood missing
Then the advice he gave them would change Bruce's world
Saying, he's better off being raised a girl
I'll provide the treatments, you provide the dresses
Bruce'll show difference between gender and sexes
Replace any boys toys with girls dolls
And if you say yes, we'll start with extracting his b-
They hesitated but eventually agreed
For Bruce to be happy, it is the change that he needs
22 months, a permanent reminder
That Bruce doesn't exist, only Brenda Reimer
They made sure the twin thinks he has a sister
Since genesis to prevent any resistance
Money became the primary doc
Hoping to share the success for every photo op
And it worked for a little but eventually
Brenda showed more and more signs of masculinity
Growing close with his twin and they shared toys
He had more fun playing games that were meant for boys
But the doctor wasn't having it, he felt annoyed
What came natural to Brenda can leave theories destroyed
So age 7, more experiments ensued
Of a sexual nature neither one could refuse
Made Brian - on Brenda's c-
Plus taking pics of the twins in b- s-
It was his way of teaching differences in gender
Including stereotypical roles he wants Brenda
To play, to say no, they were afraid
Of being struck by the doctor whenever his voice raised
Brenda still stood his ground, Money wanted
To operate to make him look more convincing but he put his foot down
Years pass, Brenda's now 14
Still seeing himself as a king, less is as a queen
Doctor's still trying to push transitioning Brenda
Tried convincing him by bringing in someone transgender
But Brenda doesn't understand how ish makes sense
Was told he's born a woman, no plastic or fake breasts
Brenda left, told his folks, I've had enough!
Why can't I be a boy instead of feeling handcuffed?
I've always felt like a boy, being a girl's hell!
Send me again to Dr. Money, I'll - myself!
The parents knew then, it was time
Each parent took a twin on a separate ride
Dad took Brenda for ice cream and the truth
Told Brenda, finally, his birth name was Bruce
Mom took Brian elsewhere to stop the lies
Said a botched circumcision changed his twin brothers life
Wondering how'd they react, it ain't hard to tell
Brenda felt a huge relief, but Brian not so well
Brian went into shock after learning what happened
Lead to schizophrenia and brotherly detachment
Brenda reversed everything, double mastectomy
Phalloplasty operations, testosterone injections
Brenda's identity's put inside the grave and
Came back reborn again by the name David
Got excluded from school due to differences
Bullies were too much, they always want to pick on him
David didn't let it affect his mood
After all's said and done, he embraced being a dude
Adulthood seemed like brighter days
Worked at a slaughterhouse and odd jobs for a wage
Married a beauty named Jane, single mother of three
After winning a sum for his botched surgery
Then around 97, things were opposite funny
His girly life's deemed success by Johnathan Money
David reached out to his estranged brother
Saying, to prevent reoccurrence, gotta steal Money's thunder
So they told his whole story to the world
As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who was Raised as a Girl
Book was a best seller, appearance on Oprah
Things finally looked like a world of hope but
July 2002 the angels cried
Brian popped too many pills, they ruled it a suicide
The stress from his death affected David's life
And he was requested separation from his wife
Then May 4th 2004
David drives up to the grocery store
Sawed off shot-, hand on the -
People heard a loud - and found a headless stump
