I learnt guitar to be like you 
Listening to tunes in your big old car 
We'd drive so fast to Jumpin jack flash 

How the hell did we end up here 
Clinging on for to life
When you seemed to have it all 
You of all people

When I turned 16
We rode our bikes through Germany 
You showed how good a life could be 
These memories shaped the world I see 

You were just like a dream 
The best old man a boy like me could have ever seen
That's forever with me

By the time I turned 21
I had your heart you gave me your hunger 
Told me that I wasn't just anyone 

You loved our mum,  like she was a queen
She is small but she's so strong 
But I don't want to see her little heart break for too long 
So I wrote you this song

Now I turned 30 
I'm staring at a future without you next to me 
I always assumed you'd always be 

You taught me how to dream
