It was late September when I saw you there
I remember the moonlight in your hair
I remember I acted like I didn't care at all

It was later than normal for fireflies
Maybe it was the just spark in your eyes
But I knew right then and there I had to try

Easier times we've had, easier days we've spent together
Easier times we've had, but these are the things we will remember

Moved cross country on a whim and a prayer
Didn't know what we'd find 'til we both got there
It was kinda' like a ride at the local county fair

Both done things we didn't want to do
Didn't always play by the rules
But I still make you laugh when I play the fool.

Seasons change and so do I

Up all night worrying about things
Days not right, eyes have rings
Saturday comes and we still sing our song

Where we are now's not where we want to be
But nothing good is ever really free
At least it's still you and me, yeah you and me
