My marbles are rolling right on out the door
I'd follow them if they were useful to me
These rattling thoughts they rattle some more
'Cause a beautiful stranger is all that I see

Stopped in my tracks I'm searching for the air
My lungs have hit the road and I'm slowed to a crawl
The way the golden sunlight shines in her hair
Redder than the leaves of fall

I can't help but wonder on what's in her mind
Like novels and art or thoughts about the moon
But before I can ask I've run out of time
The moment is born and passes too soon

Bitten by an arrow with the light that's on her face
Connected our eyes and my senses dissolved
It's as if an angel walks right in her place
Around her a million planets revolve

She's a daffodil in bloom and I cannot look away
Waltzing like a river across the dusty street
Then come the clouds casting shadows on the day
And a beautiful stranger I'll never meet

The eyes that I have are no different than yours
But how can it be they would curse me like this
It's all a mirage like a mirror on the floor
Leaving me lonely in lieu of a kiss

My joy and my sorrow are one and the same
Like pavement enduring the pound of the rain
She sparked my soul and ignited a flame
But a beautiful stranger is what she'll remain
