Jay Gatsby (originally named James Gatz) is the titular fictional character of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel The Great Gatsby. The character is an enigmatic nouveau riche millionaire who lives in a luxurious mansion on Long Island where he often hosts extravagant parties and who allegedly gained his vast fortune by illicit bootlegging during prohibition in the United States. Fitzgerald based many details about the fictional character on Max Gerlach, a mysterious neighbor and World War I veteran whom the author met while living in New York City during the raucous Jazz Age. Like Gatsby, Gerlach threw lavish parties, never wore the same shirt twice, used the phrase "old sport", claimed to be educated at Oxford University, and fostered myths about himself, inc… more »

Please Don’t Ask Me Why I Changed (prod. by Humbeats)

(Chorus)
Please don’t ask me why I changed
First ask why you stayed the same
Please
Before you judge me
It’s been way too long I’m in too deep,
The way I am yeah this is me
Please
Please let me be me

[Verse 1]
You was supposed to want the best for me
& Now you speaking less of me
& none of it is fair if I ain’t there,
The pot calling the kettle black don’t act like that ain’t weird
I done crossed roads, watched souls with blank stares, and nothing to say
Had me feeling like I wasn’t awake
Da Mirror tell me that I’m gon be okay
But I’m stuck in my ways,
It’s clearly we’re not, one of the same,
Not for the reasons that you wanna portray
But for reasons that u want me away
Still they want me to change,
They love it when I rap they say the singing give it more pain
Lil niggas they don’t listen, still I give em more game
I ain’t sign on AOL but shit I’m still on AIM
Hit a nigga from a distance that’s automatic
Emptying my clip on all artists is target practice
Can’t afford but I been working hard so I gotta have it
When Im around, you shut tf up like I’m fond of magic,
If you can’t invest in me then I’m busy,
I’m offline,
I’m Charging niggas double if you give me a hard time,
& taxin if you in the right place at the wrong time
I’m back like I ain’t never left and act like it’s all mine
But you can keep it,
You can keep the streets u can keep the beefs
I’ma keep my grind that’s what the ppl need
Look, when my cousin died, it couldn’t sit wit me
They called her MRS SAKS FIFTH her name was Tiffany
New York And Jersey first tour the shit lit to me
Too sick to even hit my show the shit felt differently
I was tryna get it shakin like a dancer
How I lose tish, and Helio then mama got cancer,
She would’ve lost her life if they gave her chemo
And now I gotta deal with instagram and your egos
And niggas flashing money rapping coupes, and zeros
& they don’t have a budget for my feature, yeah we know
I’ll show you how the bottom of the bottom feel
Tryna turn these 16s to blue dollar bills
Eyes same color as them red bottom heels
I ain’t thirsty but I’ll hit chu up like I’m tryna chill

(Chorus)
Please don’t ask me why I changed
First ask why you stayed the same
Please
Before you judge me
It’s been way too long I’m in too deep,
The way I am yeah this is me
Please
Please let me be me

[Verse 2]
Everything I did, I did it for a purpose
I’ve been tryna raise these bars like I’m getting service
Always going through some shit, was never living perfect
I ain’t stubborn,
We can hash it out if it Ain’t worth it,
How you got no power and u talking still
Lately I’ve been on a roll like I’m poppin pills
Ima lyrical Assassin it’s my job to kill
Now I can’t take my eyes off you like Lauren hill
When u was miseducated it left me devastated
& That’s a tough pill to swallow so I don’t medicate it
Could never move like a baller cause they be hesitating
& Whats drive, without dedication?
They moved my little bro to Borderline Florida
Shit is horrible,
When he was bagged outside of Atlanta the shit rhetorical
I just hope they free your body and your spirit
Niggas told, know somebody gon feel it
Nigga..

(Chorus)
Please don’t ask me why I changed
First ask why you stayed the same
Pleaseeeeeeeee
Before you judge me
It’s been way too long I’m in too deep,
The way I am yeah this is me
Pleaseeeeee
Please let me be me
